The Anxiety Clinic / Physio for the Brain

What is anxiety?

Anxiety  = Feeling tense, fearful and worrying from an over alert, strained and injured limbic system 

Your limbic system which includes the amygdala is known as the part of the brain which is your survival and emotional centre.

If your limbic system is injured from too much pressure, trauma, lifestyle choices, illness or long periods of stress it can create an injury which results in feeling anxious, overly aware and too self conscious.

Neuroscience is leading the way in proving anxiety and depression are physical injuries and not a state of mind which can change from a sprinkle of positive thinking!

The injury causes the limbic system to struggle with the chemistry which helps you feel more motivated, relaxed and confident and these are dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin. Without these in balance the world can seem much darker and frightening than it is and can make you feel anxious, depressed, low in confidence and self esteem, which is something life is too short to have for too long.

Prologued anxiety can lead to depression so it really is worth getting help as soon as you can. 

Through my own fruitless battle with anxiety I finally moved on from treating my anxiety as a state of mind but as a physical injury and that is when the changes began to happen very quickly.  I felt more “normal” much more often and also I began to forget I was an “anxious”person as my mind felt much more relaxed even in times which normally would set of a panic attack.

Treating the injury is incredibly easy to learn and it’s such simple stuff  too helps change your brain patterns for you to feel naturally more confident and relaxed with life.

An injured Limbic System literally turns to your dark-side as it’s job which is to draw your attention to negativity can now focus in that area way too much.  Irrational negative thoughts can now feel more real and difficult to rationalise. The rational parts of the brain step back to avoid analysing too much the danger you could be in, allowing the Limbic System to hijack you in to a freeze, flight or fight response.  Feeling anxious can happen in the most awkward of places.  Isolation is another step it can take as being around people can feel more difficult than it should.

I will teach you Mind Management skills using a brilliant mix of Neuroscience, Psychology, Coaching, Mindfulness, NLP, Hypnotherapy and some other strategies to help to begin to heal the injury, change the chemistry and help you feel more confident and relaxed with life.

This is just like having physio for the brain which I believe is the most effective way to deal with a physical injury such as anxiety or depression.  You wouldn’t think your way out of a strained muscle so why would you try to that with a brain injury?

You get everything we do emailed to you so you can practise what you learn to heal and take control of your anxiety. In a short time you will not need me as you should develop the confidence to continue yourself.

My Anxiety Program 

In each session you will experience tools and various therapies to help you heal as quickly and as effectively as possible. There is no really quick fix for an injury but clients often report feeling different from session one onwards.

Session One – This foundation session will teach you to get anxiety symptoms under control by reducing pressure off the limbic system and changing the brain chemistry which determines how you feel. By exploring and becoming more confident in these strategies and how they reduce anxiety, you can change your relationship with anxiety forever.

Session Two – This second foundation session is normally held around a week later. Together we going even further in exploring simple but effective Mind Management skills centred around your thoughts and feelings.  As some of you feel driven mad by a mind which doesn’t seem to be able to be switched off or stuck in a negative loop, this session is a powerful game changer.

Session Three onwards –  We look next at how your beliefs and values influence the way you see reality. Together we can look at any unhelpful beliefs about yourself and life in general to explore alternative perspectives which take pressure off the limbic system. Possible roots for your anxiety are also explored so we can be thorough in changing your mind to change your life.  Sessions can’t be planned as they flow better from your honest feedback so we can fine tune and and change anything that isn’t working the way it needs to.

Everything we do is emailed to you to help you carry on your own progress so you no longer need me. The main focus will always be not taking my word for how the strategies work but to experience how they work for you. This changes your relationship with anxiety and should help you become the more confident and relaxed person you enjoy being.
