I work a lot of people in Brighton and Hove or around the world who have suffered from various forms of mental, physical or sexual abuse. Hypnotherapy, NLP, IEMT, Mindfulness Therapy, EFT and various forms of counselling are powerful therapies which can gently help clients empower themselves to heal and let go of their past. Life is too short to have the negatives from the past dictate your future!
This is no quick fix therapy but many clients come to me after having talk therapy which hasn’t worked for them and want to work pro-actively on the memories and inner rage which are causing problems for them in the present day. It takes courage to seek help and admit what has happened or is happening now and I can only admire anyone thinking of taking that first step to changing their minds to change their lives. Abuse left untreated can lead to:
Rage and anger leaks which are taken out on people who are important to you

- Obsessive behaviour
- Self harming
- Passing issues onto children
- Creating emotional barriers which prevent healthy relationships
- Low self esteem / self worth
- Depression and anxiety
- Unhealthy sex relationships
- Becoming an abuser too
Whilst hypnotherapy should not be used to uncover memories due to the possibility of false memories being created, it is powerful to help develop inner resources of relaxation, strength, confidence and other feelings of empowerment to change the way the mind is processing memories from the past.
Some other ways to work with the trauma of the past:
IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy) which can help reduce the overwelming power of memories and develop resources to change the view of the past and manage your future in a more empowered way.
NLP (Neuro linguistic Programing) helps to change the way the memories are processed, can help take the power out of those memories, reframe the experiences, create healthy boundaries, develop strategies for future ups and downs and help you focus on the positives in life so you can develop a healthier attitude to life. If you think of your brain as a computer, NLP is the tool to reprogram unhelpful programs running in your mind.
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) really works with some people and some are adamant that this is their preferred therapy. EFT is a tapping system on acupressure points which apparently creates a release of endorphins which affects the way memories of trauma are stored. This is combined with IEMT and NLP to reframe and reprogram the brain to change the way the past is processed, to heal and let go and to grow stronger and more confident.
MET (Metaphoric Energy Transformation) and Metaphoric Mind work can help with abuse as the language used by the client is often full of clues to how the subconscious is processing the issues and when explored can provide the solutions. The feelings from the past can be physically overwelming but can be worked with to feel much more manageable.
