Do you want to feel more Motivated?

“ I feel guilty if I sit down and do nothing,” is something quite a few clients tell me as they struggle with various forms of relaxing. Yet sitting down and relaxing is one of the most productive things we can do as it recharges our batteries. Without mental and physical energy we can overly procrastinate to try and conserve some for survival reasons.  We should have always have some stored energy for any unexpected needed fight or flight responses. Without recharging we can lack confidence, clarity, focus and motivation to ...

Mental Health Injury

“It still hurts,” he said twisting his wrist slightly at me to show me the swelling which had greatly reduced but was still an issue. My friend then went through the list of proactive approaches they had been doing to heal themselves after their fall about a month ago, it really showed their determination to getting back to normal. I am sure their dedication would pay off but I wished that more people would be as focused, determined and as compassionate as that on healing the injury that was causing their ...

Rebellion

It seems like we are always being told what to do. Parents, family and partners Teachers, bosses and peers Government, society, culture and religion Lay down some of rules we feel pressurised into obeying through the voice in our heads.  That inner critic, that inner moralist which not only can put us down with self abuse about the way we look and "not being good enough" but also demands reality fits our way of seeing the world or it gets very angry indeed. It gets exhausting listening to this voice, in the end we can ...

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is simply switching your awareness from thoughts focusing on the past or future to what is happening in the present moment. You can become mindful in the present about feelings, emotions, thoughts, taste, touch, smell and what you can see and hear. For me mindfulness is liberating, not only is it incredibly easy to learn from the way I teach it it, but the benefits are invaluable for living this one chance of life that I have.  Mindfulness was the major influence in reducing and managing the anxiety I used ...

I’m not good Enough

“I'm not good enough.” “Everyone is better than me.” “Why is everyone else more confident than me?” I think it’s easier for our self worth to take a battering now than maybe any other time in our history. We are bombarded with so many altered airbrushed images of perfection which distorts a realistic perception of reality. Social media and television keeps showing us people who are apparently living “that dream life,” and we will naturally compare ourselves with what we see and this can make us feel very bad indeed.  As most people ...

Tell Children they are Fat?

"I believe it is time for a few tears and tantrums. Hard news hurts.” - Katie Hopkins. Outrage and debates raged this week due to Katie Hopkins blog and appearance on This Morning as she explained to readers and viewers that the obesity crisis needed some tough love.  Children with weight issues needed to be told directly they were fat so they could then deal with it.  After all 1 in 10 start school with weight issues, Katie then goes on point out school bullies will be less sensitive and taunt ...

Limbic Training

It’s easy to see why people will do anything not to feel any negative or uncomfortable feelings.  It doesn’t feel nice and as we are creatures of comfort the natural reactive response is to try and distract ourselves with something which does feel good. Food, alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, television and gaming are just a few ways people will use to try to move away from their thoughts which create negative feelings. The problem with this is that the Limbic System is now being trained to see negative thoughts and feelings as ...

Goal Setting Doesn’t Work

“You need goals,” we are all told if we want to achieve or be more successful in life. “Without goals you will fail.”   The answer to life seems to be goal setting but why are we so terrible at reaching our goals? Then logical reasoning suggests “you need more motivation, discipline and focus to make goals work.”  So the next goal seems to be trying to make yourself kind of perfect so you can reach your desired goals.  This is a horrible trap to get caught up in which can ...

Motivation Perspective

The Paramedics were doing their best to save someones life on a bus today.  I didn’t stop and gawk at what was happening, I just silently hoped they made it and carried on home.  This was another reminder that we cannot be complacent or apathetic with life.  At any time our lives could change in an instant through health issues, career bombs, death of a loved one or just even ourselves losing our lives or many other life experiences which can roll in unexpectedly. I live my life with the awareness ...

The Power of You

At the centre of you is one heck of a powerful person. Clear and focused, Relaxed and calm, Resilient and resourceful, Confident and strong, Able to see the bigger picture, Opportunistic and able to see the potential in what is happening around you and so much more. Many of you will say “yeah right, I wish!” but the bottom line is that this is the truth.  At your core you are simply amazing, but what’s muddying the waters are the thoughts you have about yourself and life.  These thoughts are your problem as they dictate how you ...
